A Work of Art from Cover to Cover

It started with the dream of making books that felt special—inside and out.

When I became an author, I thought my main challenge would be writing stories that drew readers in. But over the years, I learned another truth: a book isn’t just words on a page. It’s an experience. And that experience starts the second someone sees the cover.

Why the Cover Matters

They say not to judge a book by its cover, but let’s be honest—we all do (don't try to deny it 😏). The cover is the first thing we see, the hook that draws us closer.

When I was a girl, my mom read historical romance novels, and I was fascinated by their covers. The fronts were elegant, often with lavish fonts that screamed romance—but the magic was inside the flap. There, a breathtaking piece of art showed the hero and his lady wrapped in each other’s arms, passion nearly tangible. It made me swoon!

When I started writing, I wanted that same beauty and intensity—minus some of the… ahem… extra skin. 😉

Passion and Faith — Finding the Balance

While I didn’t want to write the same kind of romance my mom read back then (sorry mom 😅), I did want my books to be real. Some Christian romance can feel overly sanitized, missing the depth of emotion we naturally crave. I wanted to show the full spectrum—the passion, the struggles, the triumphs—without compromising my values as a Christian author.

From the cover to the last page, I wanted my readers to know: this isn’t like other Christian romances. It’s real. It’s heartfelt. And yes—it’s passionate.

Making the Inside as Beautiful as the Outside

Another inspiration came from the YA fantasy genre. Those books are works of art—sprayed edges, chapter illustrations, gorgeous formatting. I thought, Why can’t Christian fiction be like that?

I decided mine would be. I created chapter art, designed intricate scene separators, and formatted each book to feel like a treasure in your hands. The time investment was enormous, but the result? Something unlike anything else in the Christian romance community. While I haven’t added sprayed edges yet, my books are still works of art—inside and out.

Facing the Critics

When I first published, some readers criticized me for including passion and (from the villains) lust. It made me question myself. Should I tone it down? Remove the passion? Leave God out and publish in another genre?

The answer to that last question was clear—no. God is the most important part of my life—my words would be lifeless without Him.

What the Bible Says About Desire

To find my answer, I turned to Scripture. I saw passion and lust mentioned throughout the Bible. Desire is celebrated in Song of Solomon, where beauty is described with reverence (and yes, breasts are mentioned—four times! My heroes never go that far. 🫢). Scripture doesn’t shy away from human emotions—love, desire, betrayal, devotion, and the consequences of lust are all there.

If God created desire and it is a blessing within marriage, why wouldn’t I write about it? He’s called me to. He’s given me the gift to tell these stories—and I love writing them.

Why I Write This Way

✨ My books are as beautiful on the inside as they are on the outside, both in design and in truth. They celebrate love, passion, faith, and the God who created them all. I am truly blessed that He chose me to share them with the world.

Which kind of book draws you in most — the one with a simple design and gentle romance, or the one that’s a complete, immersive experience from cover to cover?
